Kisses and Snow Cones

I am so excited to get these photos posted! Before I talk about the photos, I must tell you that the Crystal is doing well since her surgery... feeling better and better each day.  Check out her Caring Bridge site for more details!
So, I wanted to make sure we had fun during our session as it was their last weekend together before the big surgery.  We met at a park and immediately got to shooting.  Normally, it takes kids some time to warm up to having their photo taken... NOT THESE KIDS!  They loved it and were so fun to play with in between photos.  Oh, and they love Knock-Knock jokes!  I got the best reaction out of the kids each time I asked mom and dad to share a little love in the form of a kiss : )  It was hilarious!
Eventually, we made our way to a neat little location where the kids could enjoy eating snow cones and just hanging out with mom and dad!  If you are in the mood for snow cones or fresh produce you should check this place out.  Here is the link to their facebook page.
It was a great day and I am so thankful that I had the chance to do these photos for this sweet family!
On a side note- this session is a great example of how I like for my sessions to go!  I think it's important to find a location where you can get a variety of shots with different backgrounds, colors, and textures, but its also important (and fun : ) to incorporate activities into the sessions such as eating snow cones, playing games, etc.  I want my clients to leave my sessions having created new and FUN memories and I think we definitely did : )

Brave and Strong

This picture is in honor of a beautiful woman and her incredible family. I had the privilege of hanging out with them and photographing them this past Saturday on a gorgeous sunny day! Although I haven't finished editing the other photos from their session, I wanted to go ahead and get this one posted. Why? Well, on Thursday, Crystal will be having surgery as Phase 1 in her fight against the cancer that has decided to show up in her body. I love this photo because I think it really captures the spirit of this family right now... Crystal being brave and strong and ready to "fight" this thing and her precious family right behind her cheering her on and loving and supporting her. Please say a prayer for Crystal on Thursday as she will be undergoing a six hour surgery... you can visit her Caring Bridge website for updates, www.caringbridge.org/visit/crystalbaker

Love It!

I was going to wait to share any of Rick and Nancy's wedding photos until I had edited at least half of them, but I just HAD to share this photo with you. I'm not sure if any of you are Office fans, but my husband and I, and pretty much my entire family, are obsessed with it! We love it! Well, long story short my sister and I told Rick about how Jim and Pam took mental pictures the entire day of their wedding and how adorable it was.... So, as Rick and Nancy were walking down the aisle after being pronounced husband and wife, Rick snapped his own mental picture and I happened to catch it! Such a sweet moment! Here is the photo where you can see Rick snapping his own "air camera" for his mental picture! Love it! These are the moments that are priceless and that I am honored and privileged to capture. More photos to come : )

Miss Charleston Teen

Where do I even start... man, I love this girl!!! I've had the privilege of knowing Wendy for almost three years now, and I am just so thankful for her. This girl is not only gorgeous, but she has an incredible singing voice, a contagious and outgoing personality, she rarely meets a stranger, and what I love and admire the most about her is her heart for God and for others. I love watching her grow and seeing her faith mature... let me give you a recent example.
Recently in our town, there was a tragic car accident in which a beautiful young girl lost her life. This young girl happened to be one of Wendy's closest friends and to say that Wendy was devastated is an understatement. However, Wendy did not let this deter her from her faith but instead allowed it to strengthen her faith and has been using this tragedy as a way to help others. Being in pageants, every girl has to have a platform or a cause that they support and advocate for. Well, Wendy recently changed hers to promote and advocate for "Teens Against Reckless Driving" and speaks to remind teens that driving is not just about fun and freedom, and that it comes with a heavy responsibilities and consequences.
I could go on and on about Wendy, but I digress...
So, our session was alot of fun... I had previously scouted out some unique and interesting locations for a future shoot and was so pleased when Wendy loved the ideas. It was a long awaited sunny and warm day with plenty of light (great lighting can take a session from good to jaw-dropping). Wendy needed some head shots for signature cards to pass out at some upcoming events she has, but I couldn't help but try out some cute, fun poses with her. Here are some of my faves from the session. Enjoy!

"Where Life Meets the Lens"

Don't you just love the tagline!?! So, just maybe you've been admiring my fabulous logo... I know I have : ) I feel like it is such a great representation of my style of photography! Creating my logo and brand has been one of the most exciting and fun things I have gotten to do lately, but I did not do it alone... nope, I enlisted the expertise of a FABULOUS designer named Rose of Bittersweet Design Boutique. I contacted Rose in January and after many phone calls, emails, and designing... she came up with my logo and business card. Getting the completed files was like Christmas! Really, Rose was incredible. If you are in need of a designer for anything- wedding invitations, party invitations, business items, etc. I highly recommend her! You can visit her blog for a more in depth look at my logo and brand as well as many others she has created.

Feeling Loved

As I close this day, I can't help but stop to say that I am feeling overwhelmingly loved... I turned 27 today : ) In honor of the "day of my birth," I took the day off of work and enjoyed being around the house and getting some items checked off my "to do" list- don't worry they were all fun things (such as completing a makeover on our sunroom so that it can be my new office : ) I can't wait to put some photos of it up when it is totally finished! I also made Beef Bourguignon for my birthday dinner... thank you Julie and Julia for inspiring me and giving me a serious craving for the past three weeks for a ridiculously LABOR intensive meal! It was good though... not sure I'll put it on the "regular" list, but it was definitely enjoyable.

So, my husband has been so sweet and thoughtful all day... he usually is, but today he was going the extra mile. He helped me hang some curtains, cleaned the mess the Bourguignon made in the kitchen, and then informed me that he was going to pick up my cake from Baskin Robbins. So, I volunteered to go with him although I was looking alittle too comfortable. I didn't even bother to put shoes on because I was planning to stay in the car... or so I thought... We pulled up and I saw some balloons through the window and I actually said, "looks like someone else is having a party tonight," to which my husband replies, "no, its your party." I can really be clueless sometimes... you should hear our engagement story!

My husband had to do some serious convincing to get me out of the car, but I did go in and of course, as soon as I did, I didn't care what I looked like and the fact that I didn't have shoes on (I did have socks on, that makes it better right?). I have such sweet friends and family and an amazing husband. Thank you so much for going out of your way to make me feel loved! And, I will leave you with a picture of my Beef Bourguignon : )
