Loved Me Some American Honey, Wedding Photographer in Columbia, SC

So yesterday I was in Charlotte all day, left Columbia at 7:15 a.m. and did not pull back in until 11:45 p.m., for a workshop by Justin and Mary Marantz called Walk Through a Wedding.  It was incredible!  I was like a sponge soaking up everything the talented husband and wife duo were saying and trying to snap shots in between.

This next part might be TMI, but I just have to share.  All you nursing moms will love this : )

Don't worry about the fact that I pulled up early to the workshop (keep in mind that I'm a  new mom and nursing and this was my first day away from my baby, tear) and got all ready to "pump" only to discover that I left some crucial pieces at home!  I almost started hyperventilating and then I almost reverted to crying and then I almost turned around and drove home... it was awful, but I ended up holding it together and driving myself to Target to get a substitute, a manual : (  So, I was 45 minutes late to the workshop, but I am so glad that I used my problem-solving skills and labor breathing techniques to keep my cool enough to enjoy the day, meet alot of great photographers, and learn some new things.  AND a big thanks to my mom for watching the babe : )

Here is one of the images I caught from the day.  We had some great models!

A Quote, Columbia, SC Photographer

I read this quote in a passage from a book called The One Year Book of Encouragement.  The book is a compilation of works from incredible authors/theologians such as Martin Luther, Brother Lawrence, and my favorite Oswald Chambers.  The quote above was written by John Henry Jowett and I read it on a day where I was feeling anxious and fearful about some decisions that David and I are making for our family.  The "tent" for me symbolizes safety, security, and boundaries but it can also be very confining and limiting.  Whereas the "sky" symbolizes adventure, the unkown, and limitless possibilities and opportunities.  I hope to live my life as someone that is willing to give up the tent for the sky.

What about you?

Jenny and Dan, Wedding Photographer in Columbia, SC

I'm so excited to finally share these images!  This was the last session I did before Emerson's arrival... and I was large... really, really large.  Fortunately, my sister was in town the weekend of their session and she agreed was dragged along with me to help in case I fell down and was not able to get up or went into early labor : )
Prior to the session, we met for coffee and chat time at Starbucks.  I loved spending time with Jenny and Dan.  These two have been together for something like eight years and are finally putting on the Mr. and the Mrs. in August of this year in beautiful Charleston.  They were such a great couple to photograph... I could tell there was alot of love and comfort and trust between these two.  They made my job easy : )  Thanks Jenny and Dan for allowing me to capture these images for you!

Multitude Monday, Photographer in Columbia, SC

Here's my list for this week : )

~ getting mail, I just love it!
~ a lazy Saturday with the husband and our sweet girl filled with movies, chocolate chip cookies, and naps
~ my house, it fits all of our needs, holds all of our furniture perfectly, has great space for entertaining, an incredible kitchen with tons of counter space, and I'm just so thankful for it!
~ Emerson's two month check-up reported a healthy and happy little girl
~ another birthday, I'm 28. I can't believe it.
~ the incredible Christian community that David and I have become a part of
~ walking with friends
~ having family nearby
~ this one takes some explanation... my mom is going to be getting a new car sometime soon and she was talking with my brother about what kind of car she should get.  He suggested some kind of smaller, sporty car to which my mom replied, "it must be big enough to hold a car seat."  I'm so thankful that David and I both have parents who love us unconditionally and love Emerson just the same, maybe even more : ) Enough to determine the kind of car that they will get : )
~ Skype... its been so fun chatting with the grandparents over Skype so that they can see Emerson.
~ the engagement session that I will be sharing with you sometime this week, see the sneak peek below
