Christmas is here... and we are still waiting on Emmy!

Well, I was hoping that maybe the little girl would've made her debut by now, but technically her due date is not until Jan. 2nd.  So, maybe she is going to be right on time (please God don't let her be late!!!).  I'm ready to not have a large basketball on the front of me and ankles that inflate and deflate throughout the day : )
My maternity leave starts today, so I don't know when my next post will be.  Hopefully I will be able to get a few shots of the little one up on here for you all to see not too long after she arrives.  But before I go, in an effort to maintain accountability, I wanted to share how I did with my Pre-Emmy goals.

Pre-Emmy Goals:
1- celebrate David's 32nd birthday   done!
2- write and mail all thank you notes  done!
3- complete engagement consult and portrait session (last one of the year)  done!
4- edit final session  done!
5- complete 3 ordering sessions  2 were completed, and 1 is still pending... almost done!
6- submit orders, package orders, and deliver orders  done!
7- submit bookkeeping stuff to my accountant (aka, my father-in-law, he's the best!)  uh, almost : )
7- complete all Christmas shopping and wrapping  done as of today!
8- work on menu for Christmas Eve dinner  done and all groceries are purchased and there is an Ina Garten chocolate cake in the oven as I type : )
9- decorate for Christmas  done!
10- clean the house for Christmas guests  done thanks to my wonderful husband!

Although, I will be on maternity leave, I will still be monitoring and responding to emails... you just might have to be alittle patient with me as there will be a new little creature living in our house : )

Also, David and I did a maternity photo session with the talented Amanda Zabrocki.  Here are just a few of the fabulous images.

Don't you just love this last one.  David loves the movie Notting Hill and the only request he had for this photo session was that we try to recreate the scene at the end when Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts are lounging on the bench.  Now, we are no Hugh and Julia, but I'm so thankful Amanda was able to capture this!  I love it!!!

Thanks Amanda!

Christy and Joseph- Columbia, SC Wedding Photographer

I had the best time with Christy and Joseph for this session!  Christy and I met last April and I immediately knew that I would enjoy working with her and shooting her wedding... at the beautiful Inn at Kilburnie no less!
Initially we talked about doing their engagement session outdoors in a fieldy (is that a word?) kind of location.  Then we changed our minds to shoot their session at the Columbia State Fair because it is where their first date was and it has been an annual tradition throughout their relationship.  Well, then we got nervous that we might need to find another location that would have less of a crowd to deal with.  So, finally we decided to do half of our session in the downtown Columbia area and the other half at the fair.  Little did we realize that it would take us an hour to drive alittle less than two miles from downtown to the fair.  Later we found out that we had decided to go to the fair on the night that tickets are $1!!!  No wonder it was craziness!
By the time we got to the fair, we were almost completely out of light.  We did manage to squeeze out a few shots.  Fortunately, we got some AWESOME images from our downtown location.  So, whatever disappointment we felt from missing out on more fair shots was overshadowed by how much we loved the downtown shots.
This couple worked it in front of the camera!  They were so cute together and have the whole flirting thing down pat!  It made my job incredibly easy : )  I definitely have to give some props to Joseph who, like all guys, was initially less-than-thrilled about having to be in front of a camera, but soon warmed up and gave me some great shots!
I shot Christy's bridals a few weeks ago and can't wait to share those... Joseph, you are gonna die!  Sorry, you will have to wait to see those until after their April wedding.

Enjoy!

Katie & Marley- Columbia, SC Children's Photographer

You might remember these sweet faces from a sneak peek I posted a few weeks ago.  I've know these girls for the past three years and they just get cuter and cuter every year.  I mean, how can you not love a set of twins with adorable freckle faces and sugar and spice personalities!?!
For this session, we used the family's "country house" which has also been the location for several other sessions of mine.  This location is to-die-for!  The girls were so easy going and ready and willing to do as I directed (although they didn't need much direction).  I LOVED their family quilt that we
incorporated into some of the images.  The colors turned out A-MAZING!
I also loved the different outfits that their mom selected for them.  I love the simplicity of the tank-top, jeans, and no shoes look.  I think it went perfectly with our location.  I also loved the gray and white tops with the red bows in their hair.  We didn't need the girls to have on much color because we had the colorful quilt as a back drop along with a field full of colorful flowers.
Side note- Something that I can't stress enough is that location and wardrobe coordination are key to creating pleasing images!

Enjoy the images!

Black Friday Sale- Columbia, SC Photographer

So, I have never done a sale before and I don't know if I will ever do it again (we'll see what kind of response this gets), but I thought it was only appropriate for Lindsey Pace Photography to join in on the Black Friday festivities.  I've been a Black Friday participant ever since I can remember and I am excited to be able to contribute to the madness : )  I myself will be enjoying some incredible sales at a fabulous outlet!

This special will only be given to the first SIX people who contact me.  If you have worked with me before, you know that I am not a "shoot and burn" photographer.  Instead, I take great pleasure in working with people to customize products and help you find ways to display your photographs in your home as art.  However, I do realize that a lot of people like the security of having their digital negatives.
So, I hope you take advantage of this opportunity as it might not come around again.

The sessions from this sale will be taking place starting in March, and scheduled at your convenience, as I will be on maternity leave for Jan. and Feb.

This offer ends at 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 27th.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING and HAPPY SHOPPING!!!

Pre-Emmy Goals : )

So, slowly but surely I am realizing that this little girl isn't going to live inside of me forever.  In fact, she is scheduled to be a bun in the oven for only 6 1/2 more weeks!  I can't believe Jan. 2 is almost here.  Looking back, it feels like I found out I was pregnant forever ago and I can remember each day wishing I was out of the nauseous phase.  Well, here I am 33 weeks pregnant and about to be a mom... weird!
BUT, before she arrives I've got things to do!  Another photographer I know posts her monthly goals on her blog as a way of staying accountable to accomplishing them.  So, I am going to give this technique a shot to see if it helps me also.

Pre-Emmy Goals:
1- celebrate David's 32nd birthday
2- write and mail all thank you notes
3- complete engagement consult and portrait session (last one of the year)
4- edit final session
5- complete 3 ordering sessions
6- submit orders, package orders, and deliver orders
7- submit bookkeeping stuff to my accountant (aka, my father-in-law, he's the best!)
7- complete all Christmas shopping and wrapping
8- work on menu for Christmas Eve dinner
9- decorate for Christmas
10- clean the house for Christmas guests

I could definitely add a few more to this list, but for my sanity I will cut it off here.
Phew!  I hope it all happens!

I'm Still Here!

Forgive me for being MIA on the blog recently.  I promise I am hear and have some exciting sessions to share with you soon.  Over the past few weeks I have been to Atlanta, GA for a baby shower, New Bern, NC for a baby shower and flown all the way to Keller, TX (near Dalls/Fort Worth) for some training and also something called a Global Faith Forum... pretty cool stuff!  I had my first experience with serious ankle swelling thanks to the plane ride : (  I just hope it doesn't last!  Anyways, I just wanted to pop in to say hello and I will leave you with a few shots of some cuties I've been visiting with lately.

Only Three Sessions Left!!!

I only have availability for three more sessions this year before the mad rush of finishing up orders in time for Christmas and then before my MATERNITY LEAVE!  It's still weird saying that and I only have 10 weeks left until Emerson makes her appearance (I guess I better hurry up and get used to the idea : )  Maternity leave will be from Dec. 23rd- mid/late February depending on when she arrives.  During that time, I will still be monitoring emails and scheduling sessions for after maternity leave.
Also, Christmas card orders are due no later than Nov. 20th.

Granchildren are Grand - Columbia, SC Children's Photographer

I was contacted by a couple who are enjoying the stage of life that consists of spoiling their grandchildren... four to be exact.   They also happen to be a couple that my husband and I absolutely love and have had the privilege of knowing the past few years.  They were in need of updating images of their grandchildren around their home and also wanted to treat their children to some new images of their little ones.  When I first met with them in their home, it was no secret that they LOVE their grandchildren.  The kid's smiling faces were all over the house in frames and albums of all sizes.  I was more than excited to help add to their collection.
The session took place at one of my new favorite locations... lots of land with room to run, fences to climb and fields to lay in.      The kids had a great time roaming around and I gave them a pretty good laugh when I managed to stand right in the middle of a HUGE ant pile and gave the ants enough time to crawl up and in my SHORTS!!!  Luckily my husband was also there and he ran over towards me with a blanket so that I could strip off the shorts and remove the ants.  That might be TMI but I just had to share because we haven't stopped laughing about it yet!

Enjoy!

Hilary & Claire - Columbia, SC Photographer

This was the kind of session that could bring tears to a photographers eyes, or maybe just mine because I am pregnant and can cry at the drop of a hat.  Either way, I absolutely loved this session for many reasons, but one in particular... the OUTFITS!!!  These girls and their mom nailed the whole, "what do I wear" dilemma.  Future clients... if you have questions about what to wear, call this family : )  They did everything right!  The colors, the textures, the accessories, coordinating but not matchy-matchy, and I could go on and on.  However, not only were their outfits great, but the girls weren't so bad themselves : )  They were alot of fun and didn't bat an eye as I had them traipsing around a tall grassy field with mounds and mounds of ant piles.  Yeah, and I definitely did not stand in an ant pile and get my foot eaten off by fire ants... definitely did not happen : )  They also brought a family quilt that was gorgeous and just so happened to coordinate perfectly with their outfits!  I actually wanted to steal the quilt and make it mine for future sessions, but I thought that would've been bad for business.

Enjoy!

Family Session - Columbia, SC Photographer

I'm here!  I promise!  I have emerged from beneath the boxes and dust and boxes and dust and... you get the point : )  Thanks again for your patience!
This was another great session!  This particular family called me in desperate need of a shot of all the family together.  They said it had been years since their last one.  I could immediately feel how important family was to them and how much they love being together.  I just love that because I feel the same way about my family... tear  : )  They already knew that they wanted to do the session on the grandparent's property because of how sentimental it is for all of them and how much they all love gathering there to hang out.  I was in awe when I pulled up to the house and beheld a children's (and adults :) ideal playland outfitted with a huge fishing pond, picturesque swing, trails, old barns, and plenty of room to run and ride four-wheelers or relax and star gaze.  They also brought along a few small sentimental items to incorporate into some of the images such as a beautiful quilt.  I love it when clients do this because it makes the session and the images that much more special.
So, after capturing the one family shot, of course, it was all about the grandchildren.  These kids were so fun!

Enjoy!
