Goodbye Columbia & Hello Virginia / Suffolk, VA Photographer

Well, this might come as a very abrupt announcement to some people, but I am officially moving to Suffolk, VA.  This has been in the works for some time now, but I haven't mentioned it yet because there was still a slight chance that it wasn't going to happen.  Well, its officially happening... has happened.  In fact, I am currently in New Bern, NC visiting with my in-laws while my wonderful husband has been loading, driving, and unloading a massive U-haul truck (with the help of some great friends).

I will be joining him in Suffolk tomorrow and will, for the first time, lay eyes on our new home.  Oh, the adventures of the Pace family!  The other day we realized that we have moved four times in four years (every year of our marriage, we have moved)!  That is nuts considering how much we HATE packing and unpacking.  And besides that, moving is not exactly something that you want to be doing when trying to get a business up and going, but I have been so thankful for such wonderful clients who enjoy telling their friends about my photography and who have helped my business grow in such short periods of time... thank you!

So, I will be consumed with unpacking and getting little girl situated in her new house these next few days and things might get alittle slow on the blog, BUT I will be back soon and have a great family session to share with you.

Morgan's Senior Session- Columbia, SC Senior Photographer

So, I think I LOVE senior sessions.  The more I do, the more I love!  It's just such a fun phase of life for students and I really enjoy documenting it for them.  Oh to be carefree and looking forward to college days again!  Not that I don't love life now... I do and I wouldn't trade this phase for anything.

So, this is Morgan- beautiful and laid back.  Stylish and feminine accompanied by a slight tomboyish side all of which make her a fun person to be around.  She is friends with these two girls and they even tagged along with us for the session for some extra fun and adventures : )

Thanks Morgan!  Enjoy your senior year!

Columbia, SC Photographer- Multitude Monday and My Little One

Plans coming together!  This one pretty much sums it all up and I will elaborate more on it very soon : )
Oh, not sure if I've mentioned how incredibly thankful I am for Emerson FINALLY sleeping through the night- 7:30 to 7:00 to be exact, for about the past month and a half.  I thought it would never happen and people told me I was crazy for hoping.  Never say never : )

So, for the past few weeks I've had this grand idea to take Emerson out, with the help of my husband, and try to do a "real" session with her.  Real meaning, not a thrown together in two minutes in our kitchen or living room kind of session.  I'm telling you, it is so hard for me to do this whole photography thing with my own kid!  So, I planned and picked out cute outfits, good props, great location.

As soon as we pulled up to the location, the clouds began to look angry.  After all the effort to make this happen I was not about to let it stop us.  So we hopped out of the car and barely got 15 minutes of shooting before my husband wisely suggested that we pack up and get in the car.  I haven't had a session get rained out all year and of course it happens to my very own session.  Oh well, 15 minutes gave us these great images and maybe I will try again soon.  For now, these satisfy me.

Enjoy!

Oh how I love her chunky thighs : )

Everything goes in the mouth!

If you are wondering how I can stand the cuteness, I can't.

Notice all the little white things poking through her gums!

Always moving her legs.

Gonna be a roller coaster fan like her daddy.

Ready to take a bite out of the poor frog.

Columbia Photographer - Happy Anniversary to Us!

Today marks four years of marriage for me and my husband!  This time four years ago I was at a salon in Birmingham, AL with all of my bridesmaids and a handful of cousins and family.  It was such a wonderful day!  Although we were somewhat of a "destination" wedding (not exactly exotic, but Birmingham was the most convenient location for everyone- my husband being from NC and me being from FL but living in Birmingham at the time) we had about 175 people make the trek to celebrate our wedding with us!  We are so grateful to have friends and family willing to do that!

We loved many things about our wedding, but one of our favorite pieces to that day was our photographer- Jessica Messer.  I had no idea what I was doing when I was selecting my vendors for my wedding.  I really didn't have a complete vision of what I wanted.  It just sort of developed as we went along.  At the time, although they were out there, things like dedicated wedding blogs and DIY inspiration and tutorials weren't popular like they are today.

I stumbled upon Jessica through The Knot .  We met at a coffee shop and I left that meeting completely sure that she was the photographer for me.  Other than a few images on her website, I only saw a handful of her images in person.  They were GREAT images, but more than that it was her personality and style that made me confident that she could capture the kinds of images that I would want to remember my wedding day with... and boy, did she deliver!

On our wedding day, she was fun, flexible, and professional.  She was patient, creative, and made everyone feel at ease in front of the camera.  To me, these are some of the most important characteristics of a great photographer.

So, this is a two-purpose blog post today.
1- A chance for me to show off my wedding and relive a wonderful day!
2- To encourage all brides to meet with their photographers if at all possible, view their work and make sure he/she is someone you can enjoy being around on your wedding day (because they will be with you ALL day : )

The following images were taken by Jessica Messer.
